Bahamut
The first dragon, worshiped by dragons as a god. Also known as Behemoth or Mixcoatl. Writer of the sacred books.

the Business
The dragon mafia, run by Nash Harkesh. It operates in many U. S. and European cities, and finances and disguises the activities of the Moverekt dragons.

Cobalt Scroll Clan
the Vulcanian clan who devote their lives to the study of history. Their compound is near Boulder.

Copper Eye Clan
the Vulcanian clan who devote their lives to the study of science. Their compound is near Seattle.

Draconic
the original dragon language, the first language to be spoken. Hebrew can be traced back to Draconic.

drake
an adult male dragon or half dragon.

enspelled dragon
More commonly known simply as a pureblood or fullblood dragon in modern times, these dragons are under a spell to disguise them as humans. All pureblood dragons have been under this spell since the institution of the treaty.

fullblood
A true dragon; one whose ancestors do not include humans. Also known as pureblood.

Golden Scroll Clan
the Vulcanian clan who devote their lives to the study of the writings of Bahamut. Their compound is in India.

halfblood / half dragon / halfie
These terms may refer to a being with any combination of human and dragon ancestry. They appear human, with a few exceptional features.

Harkesh
a descendant of Velius.

hatchling
a dragon or half dragon who has not yet reached adulthood. Commonly used to refer to any dragon under the age of thirty.

Iron Scale Clan
the Vulcanian clan who specialize in the arts and crafts. They manufacture many of the weapons used by the Silver Horn clan. Their compound is in China.

Ivory Guardians
An enigmatic group of Half Dragon warriors who maintained the truce between the clans during a tense period at the height of the human’s Renaissance. They were noticeable due to their stark white, black tipped hair. They disappeared soon after the situation was resolved and have not been seen since.

Mouth of Bahamut
The Golden Scroll clan representative in charge of the temple at another clan's compound.

Moverekt
Those who follow Nash Harkesh, traditionally of European stock, with featherless wings in their true form. Their political and religious position is one of dominance over humans.

Pale Knights
An organization of humans dedicated to the eradication of dragons, in existence since Medieval times, though rumors place their origin in an even earlier age.

pureblood
A true dragon; one whose ancestors do not include humans. Also known as fullblood.

Quetzalcoatl
Best known in South America, these dragons have feathered wings in their true form. Very few remain, and even some dragons consider them to be legendary.

rakthah
A medicinal herb which requires special care, and often magic, in order to grow.

Red Glade Clan
A group of former Moverekt who deserted the organization after the second dragon war. Now a neutral clan of healers and medicinal experts, they are also well-trained in modern combat techniques and are nomadic in nature, given to traveling in small trailer caravans, all over the United States.

Silver Horn Clan
the Vulcanian clan who devote their lives to the disciplines of combat. Their compound is currently outside Philadelphia.

the treaty
The current agreement between the Vulcanian and Moverekt factions. Its terms are:
1. Both sides will be under a permanent disguise spell, and will hide their presence from humans.
2. No dragon will kill a human.
3. No Moverekt will kill a Vulcanian, or any Vulcanian a Moverekt.
4. No destructive magic will be allowed.

true eyes
When a half-dragon or enspelled pureblood lifts the disguising membrane from its eyes, the true eyes are seen. They are black with a colored glow.

Vulcanian
the main faction of dragons opposed to the hunting of humans. Generally of Eastern descent, with wingless bodies and metallic scales in their true form. "Vulcanian" is the most widely adopted translation of their original name for themselves, which is the Draconic word for "craftsman."

wyrm
A tremendous lizard; an extinct ancestor of dragons.

Wyrmfang
The sword which Velius made from the tooth of the largest wyrm he ever killed.
